Kevin Swindell Battles Oil Leak Throughout World of Outlaws Race at Salina Highbanks

Inside Line Promotions – SALINA, Okla. (May 3, 2015) – Last Friday was a frustrating night for Kevin Swindell, who competed with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series for the first time at Salina Highbanks Speedway.

Swindell, who was piloting a sprint car for Brandon Berryman for the second straight weekend, opened the night by battling a relentless oil leak.

“The track went from wet to slick in a hurry,” he said. “We didn’t really keep up with it and then the car blew all the oil out of it in hot laps.”

The team made a bunch of changes before and after qualifying, which Swindell scored the 23rd quickest time, but was unable to solve the problem. Swindell finished ninth in a heat race and the team elected not to compete in the Last Chance Showdown, which Swindell was slated to start on the inside of the third row with the top six transferring to the main event.

“We tried like three different times to get it to stop and it just kept blowing oil out,” he said. “On top of the oil it wouldn’t run. We tried to check the timing. Everything seemed to be okay, but something wasn’t right. It wasn’t worth it (to run the Last Chance Showdown). You’re gonna knock a set of tires off and it wasn’t even running right.”

The team elected not to compete on Saturday following the disappointing outing.

“Sometimes you have nights that don’t go your way,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to race for Brandon and his team, and I look forward to teaming up again.”
