Salina Highbanks Speedway

Grand National Summertime Shootout weekend review.

This past week in racing is one we wont soon forget. Track worker Brian Guilfoyle was injured during a caution when a car with that had a hood flipped up and had his line of sight blocked hit Brian causing several injuries. Brain is currently in ICU recovering from these injuries and is expected to heal but has a long road ahead of him. A fund has been set up and donations can be made at the Salina HIghbanks Speedway pit office. He is in St. John's Hospital in Tulsa OK. Room 712.

As for the races this past week all class had very good battles for the wins. Pure Stock A Main seen Brennon Lacy make his way back to victory lane after a short dry spell. this is his third win of the season. Brennon also sits fourth in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Division IV national standings. His dad Kevin Lacy is the national points leader.

The Grand National class had a winner but after post race tech 3 cars in the top six fail tech due to oversize carburetors. This bump driver Boone Johnson into the number one spot and giving him his first win of the season. He has been running right up front the last few weeks and this win is big for him. As far as the national picture looks for the Division III drivers, Kyle Davis sits in third and still has many races to gain the national lead back.

The B mod class this year has been the class to watch. New winners keep emerging and this week did not disappoint. Jared Thulin picks up his first ever win a b-mod on the highbanks. This is by far the toughest class to win in this year, said Chris Hawkins, we have our work cut out for this year and it gets harder every week. Chris Hawkins is the Division II National points leader followed by Keith Campbell in second.

A Mod action at the track has been action packed with the dry slick track and these guys having to do the highbanks hustle during these hot summer nights. Tyler Wolfe kept it hammer down and smooth around the top this pasted weekend making it his second win of the season and now looking for more. Wolfe hold the top spot in the State points and track points as of this weekend. Another points race is on tap for this weekend before we take a break from points racing in the modified division and hold the 3rd Annual Freedom Classic.
