Highbanks Opener Draws Big Car Count

It was a great opening night at the Highbanks as 119 car made their way to the track to fill Divisions I - IV of the Whelen All American Series for the much anticipated 2017 season opener. R.C. Whitwell picked up his first ever win at Salina and did it in commanding style as he lead all 20 of the A feature laps.

Jeran Frailey picked up the win in the B Modifieds as he came from deep in the field to pull off a last lap pass on Chris Hawkins. Great racing action was all through out the field of the 20 car main that was chiseled down from 44 entries.

Jeff Metcalf returns to victory lane and his win ways in the newly named Super Stock Division but looks that he will have some tough competitors as the season progresses.

The Pure Stock division had a strong turn out with 32 cars competing for 20 spots in the A main. Brennon Lacy was able to hold off charges through out the race from Wade Palmer to take his first win in 2017. Brennon was last years National Champion Runner-up and is looking to take it all in 17'.

This coming weekend is Easter weekend and we will be firing off the Hot Rods of the Highbanks once again Saturday night. It is a Nascar Whelen All American Series Points race and all four divisions will be running. Grandstand gates open at 5pm and races will start at 7pm. Adult tickets are $10, Kids 7-12 are $5 and 6 and under are free.
