Race teams and fans endured extreme heat on Buddy’s Home Furnishings Night to put the seventh points race in the books for Modifieds, AmeriFlex B-Mods, and Super Stocks and the eighth points race for the S&J Plumbing Pure Stocks. In addition to the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series points action, teams in the S&J Plumbing Pure Stocks and Super Stocks competed in the annual Pit Crew Challenge.

The first feature of the night was arguably the best feature of the night. As is customary, the S&J Plumbing Pure Stocks thrilled fans with fantastic racing. A couple of cautions slowed the action in the first half of the race as well as a caution on lap twelve for then-fourth place Brett Testerman. But by the waning stages of the event two familiar faces were in a duel for the win. JD Jackson and Jordon Shive exchanged the lead in the last few laps before Jackson ultimately picked up his second win of the season. Shive’s second place finish was enough to put him tied for the points lead with his brother, Josh. Erick Shive capped off an impressive drive from 16th to finish third just ahead of 13th place starting Nathan Campbell as Tommy Cantwell rounded out the top five. Testerman defended his title in the Pit Crew Challenge laying down a time just over one minute and ten seconds.

AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories B-Mods took the track second. A lap seven caution would be just what the number seven car needed as Willie Gammill took the lead from point leader Clint Johnson on that restart. Moisture around the bottom became the preferred groove in the AmeriFlex B-Mod A-Main and Gammill was the first to take advantage powering to the inside of turn two to take the lead and pace the field for a dozen laps to his first win of the season. Eleventh-starting Justin Shoemaker followed Gammill along the bottom but was never able to effectively challenge for the lead and settled for runner-up honors. Johnson faded to third while Jonathan Shoemaker finished fourth and also won the AmeriFlex Lucky Draw for an additional $100 at the pay window. Kenton Allen advanced a few spots from the fifth row to finish fifth.

Any one of four drivers seemed capable of winning the Super Stock A-Main. Ray Roberts, Jack Kirby and Dalton Garrison were the early contenders battling three-wide for several laps before Jason Wayne snuck into the picture. Wayne began pressuring Garrison around the midway point and took the lead with five laps to go on his way to becoming the first repeat Super Stock winner in seven events. Garrison, Kirby and Roberts finished second through fourth while youngster Matt Fitzgerald completed the top five from the 14th starting spot. Kirby was the lone competitor in the Super Stock Pit Crew Challenge and took home an aluminum racing jack trophy for his team’s efforts.

Buddy’s Home Furnishings Night was headlined by the Modified division. In similar fashion to his first win this season Jonathon Beyer jumped to the lead and wired the field in his second win of the season. Mike Wroblewski had a solid run in the late stages of the event to close in on Beyer but was never able to pull the trigger and ended up second. The best race of the Modified A-Main was for third in which Johnny Bone, Jr. bested Jared Russell for the final podium spot. Kayden Menasco landed in the top five in just his second start of the season.
